Charity Knits

Last night at the Knit Club we had a talk from someone who volunteers with http://www.edinburghdirectaid.org/. It was an interesting chat about what they do and who they help. They go into places that have had disasters and help them rebuild their lives and become self sufficient again. I urge you to look at their website, if I didn't have my son I wouldn't definitely volunteer to go over their and help. But because it isn't practical for me to do so I do the next best thing and knit items of clothing to give to those who need it. It was good to hear last night that the people who receive them really appreciate them something which I think is lacking in this country. I would love to knit for people here in the UK but most people here turn their nose up at hand knitted clothes which I think is such a shame as there is a lot of poverty in this country but because of the snobbish attitudes here people will not take them.

Anyway here are the photos of my recent knits

I had to take them with the flash off as the detail couldn't be seen. We are now knitting for http://http://www.theraventrust.org/. They send lots of items to Malawi, we have sent to them before and once again they were very appreciative. It gives you a nice warm feeling to know that something you enjoy doing is appreciated by someone else, I don't do any of this for gratitude just knowing that someone is getting the use out of something that I have made.

I am a knitting and wool addict which my partner can vouch for. I have wool all over my house from top to bottom if I bring anymore in he says "Oh no more wool". But my feeling is that you can never have enough wool and I am using it to do good. Well I can't think of anything else to say right now I lead such an exciting life I must get back to it. Stay tuned for the next enthralling episode.

Cheerybye for now
